Police Region North is the largest region in terms of area. The region consists of the four northernmost counties in Sweden and is organized into four police areas: Jämtland, Norrbotten, Västerbotten, and Västernorrland, which together are divided into 12 local police areas. Furthermore, there are three regional units: the operational unit, the intelligence unit, and the investigation unit, a regional office, and national departments represented in the region to support police operations.
We are now looking for 5 people for a summer temporary position in Umeå during the period from June to August, starting as agreed. There may be a possibility of extension of hours after the summer period.
JOB TASKS
The employees at the police authority's service office are the face of the police and often the first contact for the public - an important point of contact. The operation is both an exercise of authority and a service function with accessibility for both external and internal service. Serving as an administrator in the reception within the police's service office is a significant role in strengthening trust in police operations by having commitment, quality, and security in the handling of cases combined with efficiency and a pleasant demeanor.
As a summer temporary employee in the reception, you will have an important role within the framework of the police's service mission. Main job tasks:
- Process passport and ID card applications
Other common job tasks may include:
- Receive and register reports from the public
- Handle lost property
- Release confiscated items
- Receive and hand out permits
- Additional tasks may arise as the flow of cases can vary greatly.
A prerequisite for you to start working as an administrator in the reception is that you are approved and certified in the mandatory training in passport handling that begins in the first two weeks or according to another agreement. Working hours are primarily scheduled during daytime Monday to Friday, but there may occasionally be evening work and work on weekends.
QUALIFICATIONS
This is an opportunity for you who have:
- High school diploma or equivalent knowledge acquired in another way
- Relevant work experience in service that has included many external direct contacts in the form of physical personal meetings as assessed by the employer
- Good computer skills and ease in learning new IT systems
- Very good ability to express yourself in Swedish, both orally and in writing
- Good understanding of the English language and the ability to express yourself well in English
It is advantageous if you also have:
- Are a police student or studying a higher education that the employer assesses as relevant for the position
- Current experience of working within the police, another authority, or public administration that the employer assesses as relevant for the position
- Current experience of working in a reception or similar that the employer assesses as relevant for the position
- Knowledge/skills regarding police data systems such as RES, lost property, RAR, and Durtvå
- Approved and valid training in RES
Personal qualities
As an administrator in the reception, you are the police's face to the public and are expected to work with commitment, availability, and efficiency. As the pace of work varies, we believe you are a person who thrives and is driven by this, while it does not affect your accuracy or customer service. We further believe that you have a service-oriented and flexible approach as well as good collaboration skills. Since the work is outward-facing and involves daily contact with people, we place great importance on your communicative ability. We also see that you are structured and responsible in your role.
